What actually gets replaced, and why the price varies so much
An iPhone screen isn't one part. On older models the glass, the display and the touch layer come as a single unit, which is why an iPhone 12 screen costs what it does. On the Pro and Pro Max models the panel itself is more expensive to source, and the difference shows in the price — an iPhone 13 Pro Max costs meaningfully more than a standard 13. That's the whole reason we publish a price per model rather than a single headline figure: a flat "iPhone screens from £X" tells you nothing about your phone. Face ID, and the question nobody asks until afterwards
Face ID depends on hardware paired to your specific phone at the factory. Done carelessly, a screen replacement kills it permanently — and plenty of cheap repairs do exactly that, then hand the phone back without mentioning it. Our technicians transfer the original components across so Face ID keeps working, and every phone is tested before it goes back to you. If we ever couldn't preserve it on a particular device, you'd be told before we started, not after. That is worth asking any repairer before you hand a phone over.
