Z Flip & Z Fold screen repair: what it costs and why it's different
Ring five repair shops about a cracked Z Fold inner screen and four will politely pass. Foldables are the awkward corner of phone repair: the parts are expensive, built to order, and the repair itself demands care that walk-in-while-you-wait shops can't give it. Which leaves Flip and Fold owners with dealer prices or nothing — unless they find the fifth shop.
Why folding screens are different
A folding display is a flexible OLED laminated under an ultra-thin glass layer, hinged across the middle — engineering that makes it both the most expensive part of the phone and the most delicate. The protective top film is sacrificial by design (peeling at the edges is normal and replaceable); a crease that catches your nail, dead lines along the fold, or black blotches spreading from the hinge are the real failures.
Because the panel flexes, damage propagates differently too: a small fault at the fold line rarely stays small. If lines are spreading, sooner genuinely is cheaper.
Real prices, published
Inner (main) screens: £270–£350 for Z Flip 4/5 and Z Fold 4, rising to £490–£690 for Fold 5/6 — the panel alone is most of that. Outer cover screens are far kinder: £70–£200. Both together at a combined price where both are gone. Every model's fixed price is on our Samsung repair page, batteries and the usual faults included.
Parts are built to order, so allow 3–5 days rather than same-day — we'll confirm timing when you book, and you track the repair live throughout like any other job.
Making the next screen last
Never peel the factory screen protector film (edge-lifting film can be professionally replaced instead), keep grit out of the closed phone — a single grain of sand at the fold is the classic killer — don't press hard on the crease, and mind pocket dust more than drops: foldables die of particles more often than gravity. And if the hinge starts feeling gritty, get it looked at before it marks the panel.

How much does a Z Fold screen replacement cost?+
Inner screens run £270 (Fold 4) to £490–£690 (Fold 5/6) — the flexible panel itself is most of the cost. Outer cover screens are £70–£200. All fixed and published per model on our Samsung repair page.
Why won't most shops repair folding screens?+
Expensive built-to-order parts, delicate lamination, and a repair that can't be rushed between walk-ins. It's a specialism — which is why published prices and live tracking matter more here than on any other repair.
Is the screen protector peeling off my Flip normal?+
Edge-lifting of the factory film is common and the film is designed to be replaceable — don't peel it off yourself, as the panel beneath is easily damaged. Have the film swapped professionally; it's inexpensive.
